Information for clinicians on how Hand in Motion works, the clinical evidence behind it, its safety profile, and how to offer it in your practice.
A custom vlinderorthese, a motor-guided active-assist device, and motion-controlled games — designed to deliver frequent, guided mobilisation and capture objective movement data. Patients use it across every phase of rehabilitation — from keeping the hand supple to building strength — in the clinic (for example within the CARAS approach) or at home with remote monitoring.
Haptic feedback and games guide the patient through frequent, repeatable movement of the elbow, arm, and wrist.
Motion sensors capture range of motion and repetitions, so progress is measured — not estimated.
Sessions flow to the OSIND dashboard on web and the Blynk app, so you can review and adjust between visits.
Hand in Motion is built on technology evaluated in a peer-reviewed randomized controlled trial, in which no adverse effects were reported. The device meets EU MDR Class I requirements, in line with TÜV Rheinland.

As part of CrossCare 2.0 (Interreg Flanders–Netherlands), Hand in Motion was evaluated through expert interviews with rehabilitation hospitals, a rehabilitation centre, physiotherapists and a healthcare insurer in the Netherlands and Flanders — supported by the care living labs LiCalab (Thomas More) and the Care Innovation Center. The system is also co-developed with Basalt Revalidatie (Basalt Fieldlab) at their Leiden, The Hague and Delft locations, with home use supported via Basalt Delft.
Hand in Motion is not suitable for every patient. The following situations are contraindications for use. Clinical judgement always applies — if you are in doubt about a specific patient, contact us before proceeding.

Clinics and therapists choose how they want to work with Hand in Motion. Buy the kit and make the vlinderorthese yourself — or refer patients to our Herten location and still get dashboard access.
OSIND provides the motor unit for each patient. When the rental ends and the device returns, scan the QR code in the Hand in Motion app to set up the next patient — takes seconds, no IT knowledge needed. If service is ever needed, just contact OSIND.
The best way to understand what Hand in Motion can do for your patients is to experience it firsthand. We offer a limited number of free trials — including onboarding and support. Ideally, you have a patient who meets the inclusion criteria ready to try it, so the results speak for themselves.
